Just A Little Scare

So today was my second baby doc appt. I am 14 wks! As always, its fun to hear the heartbeat and check in, just to make sure everything is going ok. Well, the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat. I started to silently panic, as the worst thoughts are entering my head. She could sense my panic and told me not to worry, that sometimes its hard to hear with that machine. She still couldn't find it, so she said that we had better go take a look. Again, I am silently freaking out! So we head to the ultrasound room and lo and behold..the baby is fine with a strong heart beat, and as an added plus we got to see the baby and it was moving all over the place. I hadn't ever seen a baby at that stage, and it was so cute to see its tiny little legs kicking. Usually there is 6 more wks of growth before the usual 2nd ultrasound! She assured me that everything is perfect and that again, sometimes its hard to pick up with the other heart beat hearing device. (whatever they call it). I let out a sigh of relief and so thankful that everything is ok with our little baby! My next appt is September 19th and that is when we find out the sex of the baby. Everyone says it will be a girl, but today part of me felt that its a boy. I thought before I would be sad if I didnt have a girl, and yes I would be if I never did have one..but no matter what I am having..I just want it to be happy and healthy and boys are pretty rad too! :) I will keep you updated as the next appt rolls around! My scanner still isnt working..so here is a pic of a baby at 14 wks..so you can get an idea of what I saw..but obviously it was black and white and a 2D pic!

Terrible Tragedy

My heart goes out to the miners and their families that have experienced these two tragedies the past 11 days; the first being the first collapse that trapped the 6 miners, and the second collapse that happened last night, killing 3 miners and injuring 6 more, who were showing brave acts of heroism, attempting to rescue the 6 trapped miners. They knew the dangerous conditions and still put their lives on the line to try and rescue these men. My prayers are with the families of the miners who lost their husbands last night. I hope they soon find peace and understanding of all that has happened.
Brandon and I were glued to the TV, watching the news for almost 2 1/2 hrs last night as they covered this tragedy. No one knew anything for so long, just were seeing ambulances go up and down and AirMed helicopters landing and taking off. All they knew was that there had been a second collapse and obvious injuries. Families didnt even know for probably what seemed to them, so long, on who the men were that were injured. They showed video of the life victims, being taken into the hospital, and I couldnt help but get tears as you see the pain these men are in, and how heroic their actions were to put themselves in this position.
Now the question is being asked: Do they stop the efforts to find the other 6 trapped miners because the danger threat this is posing to the miners. Last I heard they are continuing the 4th vertical drill hole because there isnt any danger in that, though they did stop for a little bit last night, not wanting to stir the mountain at all last night as they were rescuing the other miners. Gov. Hunstman asked that they hold off on the horizontal dig to the 6 trapped miners, til Bob Murray (owner of mining company) can guarantee certain aspects of safety. I just hope and pray for a miracle, that these 6 trapped miners will be rescued, and that no one else will be injured or killed. I hope that when they do reach these miners, that they will find them alive. Please take a moment for these miners and their families. They could use all the prayers they can get right now.

Reveal Yourself

As much as I love that you can put little polls on here, I hate that people can't put who they are so I know what names they voted for. Leave me a comment and let me know what names you voted for! :)

A Song Dedicated to Chayse!

I have heard this song plenty of times, but I guess I haven't ever LISTENED to it. Its such a sweet song! Every word in this song is how I feel about Chayse and our little baby on the way! The song is "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts. Here is a video of them singing it live: "My Wish". When I hear it and apply it towards Chayse and his life..it just gives me chills. Thanks to Rascal Flatts for this great song that will be listened to for years to come!

"My Wish"

I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.

But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big

Fishy Day!

When Chayse was about 4 months old, he would sit in his bouncy chair and literally watch Shark Tales in its entirety. He loved the bright colors and movement. He has since grown to LOVE Finding Nemo and any other book, picture or movie with fish. We knew we had to get him to an aquarium, because he would have a blast! So on Saturday my dad treated us to a trip to The Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy. Chayse had such a blast while he was there..and probably would have stayed there much longer if we had let him!

Chayse was a leach to my dad the whole time, and loved "Ba-Pa" showing him all the cool fish! You gotta love my dad's cheesy smile! :)

Chayse was so excited to see Nemo in the fish tank! He had to go back a couple times to look. He also saw Dori in there as well, but I didnt get her in the picture. I wish I knew how to add audio because he says Dori so cute! :)

Its kind of hard to tell in this picture, but Chayse was trying to pet the sting rays, or "Mr Ray" from Finding Nemo. Realistically he would have had to be fully submerged to reach them, but he was having fun trying! Here is Chayse checking out the sharks! He wasn't as mesmerized by them as he was the other exhibits, but they caught his eye long enough to check them out.

Last but not least, we of course had to get a picture with Bruce the Shark from Finding Nemo. That's a name he also says in a very cute way! :)

We had a great time taking Chayse to see all the cool exhibits. He also liked the frogs in the Freshwater part of the aquarium, and of course crawling through the pretend coral and racing around to find my dad. Thanks Dad for a fun day! :)

First Doc Appt!

I am 10 wks along and had my first doc appt today! Brandon and Chayse went with, though Chayse was too interested in figuring out how to get OUT of the room, rather than stay in and see the baby on the screen. I am sure he will get more attentive as time goes on and he realizes more whats going on! Little Baby Leavitt looks great and had a whopping heartbeat of 186! (Maybe it had something to do with the two sips of Diet Coke I had before I went in!) My next appt in Aug 22 and I look forward to getting to check in the with doc again just to make sure the baby is doing great. Since I have had two premature babies, they are keeping a close watch on me and want me to keep strict on seeing the doc every 4 wks. Because of the fact that I started my appts when I was 10 wks...my next appt is when I am 14 wks and the next is at 18 wks. Usually you would just wait until 20 wks so you can see the doc and the ultrasound tech at the same time to find out the sex and get your monthly check up. But they didnt want me to wait 6 wks..so I luckily get to find out what we are having two weeks earlier than I had expected! Who knows if that made any sense..but in my head it does! Anyway, something is weird with my scanner so I wasn't able to show the cute lil peanut's picture..but I attached a 4D picture of what a 10 week old fetus looks like! Too fun! :)

Chayse @ The Cruise In

Every July, Cache Valley has an even called "The Cruise In" and on Saturday night they have a parade of all these old, refinished cars. It is pretty entertaining and fun to see all the different cars, and of course some really snazzy new ones sneak their way in! This year we sat right by a band that was playing and Chayse really enjoyed listening to their music and dancing to it!

Chayse is the king of funny faces! I am not quite sure what caused this one! He is such a goof!~

Chayse got a new camping chair for our July Camping Trip, but we decided to give it a try at the parade and Chayse loved his puppy dog chair! He looks so comfy! (Thanks for the idea Tegan!)

We had a lot of fun at the parade this year and look forward to next year! We are hoping my dad will bring his 1956 Willeys that him and my brother re-did!

Is it a Boy or a Girl???

So I was reading an article on iVillage.com and I saw this fun article: Boy or Girl? 38 Fun Ways to Guess Your Baby's Sex. Here is the checklist for a boy, and then a girl!

It's a boy if:

  • You didn't experience morning sickness in early pregnancy
  • Your baby's heart rate is less than 140 beats per minute
  • You are carrying the extra weight out front
  • Your belly looks like a basketball
  • Your areolas have darkened considerably
  • You are carrying low
  • You are craving salty or sour foods
  • You are craving protein -- meats and cheese
  • Your feet are colder than they were before pregnancy
  • The hair on your legs has grown faster during pregnancy
  • Your hands are very dry
  • Your pillow faces north when you sleep
  • Dad-to-be is gaining weight, right along with you
  • Pregnancy has you looking better than ever
  • Your urine is bright yellow in color
  • Your nose is spreading
  • You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves in circles
  • You are having headaches
  • You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an even number

It's a girl if:

  • You had morning sickness early in pregnancy
  • Your baby's heart rate is at least 140 beats per minute
  • You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear
  • Your left breast is larger than your right breast
  • Your hair develops red highlights
  • You are carrying high
  • Your belly looks like a watermelon
  • You are craving sweets
  • You are craving fruit
  • You crave orange juice
  • You don't look quite as good as normal during pregnancy
  • You are moodier than usual during pregnancy
  • Your face breaks out more than usual
  • You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread
  • Your breasts have really blossomed!
  • Your pillow faces south when you sleep
  • Your urine is a dull yellow color
  • You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves from side to side
  • You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an odd number
So far.. I could check more on the girl list than the boy list. Though the Chinese birth calendar says it will be a boy. I am only 9 weeks, so I still have 11 more weeks til we find out, but I just have to do fun little things to keep it interesting until then!

Baby Toys!

My sister showed me a really cute site for baby toys that I just love! They are soft and furry and so cute in a simple way! Most of the toys are in soft subtle colors and just perfect for a newborn to snuggle up to! I am definately going to by our new lil baby a few of these toys, once I can get myself to actually buy something. I feel like I am jinxing myself if I buy something before the first tri is over! :)
